Valanginian) beds exposed in the Colyear Springs-Paskenta area of northwestern California
consist of 12,000-25,000 feet, or more, of interbedded and intertonguing mudstone,
sandstone, and conglomerate that are characterized faunally by an abundance of the
pelecypod Buchia. These beds are difficult to correlate lithologically for more than a few
miles because of the presence of three major faults and the lack of persistent marker beds … |
