A. Pour l'observatoire de Nice : "The small equatorial refractor with a focal lenght of 7.5m today has a 50 cm diameter object-glass (p.15) - Dome for the small equatorial refractor and adjoining sleeping quarters for the observer.(p.15) - Dome for the large equatorial refractor as seen from the building where the large meridian circle used to be (p.16) - The large equatorial refractor, which was the mos powerful one in the world when it was built, is still the second largest as far as its focal length (18m) is concerned and has the fourth largest objective (76cm) (p.16) - The equatorial coudé telescope can be seen after its mobile housing is withdrawn along the railway tracks. Of seven such instruments made between 1884 and 1892, the one in Nice is the biggest of those in existance and the only one in France that still works (p.17) * By taking photographic plates measuring 24 by 30 cm, the binocular astrograph was used to search photographically for asteroids and comets (p.17) - Small meridian refactor or transit circle signed P. Gautier, Paris 1904 (p.17) - A Leroy astronomical clock with single hand for seconds (p.18) - Chronograph signed P. Gautier, Paris 1906 (p.18) - Shed housing the meridian mark on Mont-Macaron ; Nice observatory can be seen 6.5 km south of the same meridian (p.18) -
B. Pour le Mont Mounier : South alignement mark for the small meridian circle ; Nice and the sea can be seen far below (p.19) - A postcard from the beginning of the 20th century showing the Mont-Mounier outstation (from D. Benest's collection) (p.19)
c. Pour la Cime de l'Aspre : The cime de l'Aspre observing station was dismantled in 1969. All that is left now is a chalet, the polar refractor mounting and the telescope housing (p.20)
D. Pour le plateau de Calern : The road lading to the Calern plateau splits into several tracks giving access to the various buildings that house telescopes, equipment and technical facilities (p.21) ; Building designed by the Finnish environmental architect Antti Lovag ; it houses the laboratory in which the interferometric technique known as aperture synthesis was developped. Behind this building one cane see one of two 1.52 diameter telescopes of the big interferometer invented by Antoine Labeyrie. Both telescopes have an unusual spherical mounting system made of reinforced concrete... (p.22) ; Aerial view of the buildings and equipment associated with the big aperture synthesis interferometer ; the two 1.52m bowl-like telescopes can be seen in the foreground on either side of their shed ; they can be moved along riltracks in ordrer to aler their disptance apart (p.22) ; The telemetric "satellite-laser" station has an afocal optical system for emitting laser pulses ans a 1m diameter Cassegrain telescope to receive the echo signal that is sent back by cataphote reflectors on the targeted geodesic satelitte (dos p. 24 en double page).En ligne : https://www.oca.eu/images/OCA/FR/BIB_fichiers/BIBNUM-RESERVE/W141DavoigneauAstro [...] Astronomical observatories in Provence, the Southern Alps and the Côte d'Azur [texte imprimé] / Jean Davoigneau, Auteur ; Françoise Le Guet Tully, Auteur ; Marc Heller (1946-....), Photographe ; Christine Sitchet, Traducteur ; Françoise Le Guet Tully, Traducteur . - [s.l.] : Inventaire général (ADAGP), 1999 . - 1 vol.
